For VioTrack R+ no dedicated markers are required, no need to attach them on the ceiling, floor, or anywhere else. No homing procedure necessary, no previous survey to analyze the scene. Instead, the automated tracking algorithm of VioTrack R+ allows an ultra-quick preparation time and fast changes of locations and camera rigs.
Infrared setup for extreme lighting conditions
The regular VioTrack R only processes visible light. The new VioTrack R+ system also processes infrared light, and this views in both spectral ranges at the same time! This means that enough feature points are always recognised in the environment, even in the case of greatly changing lighting conditions or in very dark surroundings. The combination of infrared and visible light makes the VioTrack R+ the ideal tool for any environment, both indoor and outdoor.
free camera and lens movement for any camera rig, even for hand-held shots
The VioTrack R optical sensor is mounted onto your camera to precisely calculate the position and orientation of the camera "in air". Thus, enabling the camera to freely move within 3D space, regardless of the camera support system currently being operated, even for a hand-held camera. The additional use of lens data and TrackMen's zoom lens calibration technology, allows free zoom and focus, usage for any type of lens and any camera motion. VioTrack R+ gives your camera total freedom of movement.
works on any support system, also for your existing one
VioTrack R+ does not require a specific camera rig. You can easily choose between a tripod, pedestal, dolly, or jib, even hand-held or steady cam. With VioTrack R+, there is no need for you to purchase a dedicated support system, you can of course just retrofit your existing one. You will always be prepared for your future production needs. VioTrack R+ allows you to easily switch to any new or rented support system or any situation your client may require.
just a lightweight monocular vision sensor
Viotrack R+ just employs a single visual sensor to create the essential camera tracking data. No additional sensors are necessary to smoothen the generated data, no complicated sensor package for the steadicam operator, just a lightweight, but high-resolution sensor and our smart software technology is all we need.
Data Flow
The hardware set-up of VioTrack R+ is very easy. Basically, only the sensor unit and the lens are connected to the mini workstation. The mini workstation uses a Linux operating system specially designed for the real-time needs of our image processing software. The complete camera tracking data is sent to the graphics renderers through a regular Ethernet network.
